We decided to go ghost town hunting last Saturday. Turns out there are a lot of ghost towns in Utah.
We headed south on I-15 and then west on the I-6.
We made a ghost town play list of songs for the trip. Two of our favorites on the list included
Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and
Ghost Town by Shiny Toy Guns. Home became the trip song because it was a great driving song for the middle of nowhere.
We found a lot of houses like this, which lead to quite a few questions. Who puts the boards up? Do they put them up themselves before they evacuate? Why were these towns abandoned? Are we going to get radiation poisoning from visiting? And why was this called Last Chance St.?
We found the cemetery and most people there didn't live longer than this guy, 43. We did find one guy that lived to be 71 but no one else close to his age.
In one town we didn't find any old houses or people just a lot of these. First we thought they were goats, then sheep, but really they are probably a mutated alien animal.
Overall it was a fun way to spend a Saturday.
