The Zoo

The art exhibit ended at the zoo yesterday. It was a great feeling to get accepted into the show and even better when I got choosen to be in the traveling show. Turns out dreams really do come true. They haven't revealed the dates or venues for the traveling show yet but when they do we'll keep you posted.

Thank you everyone who went to see the show and everyone who cheered me on!

If you didn't get to see the show but want to online click here.

Some of my favorites are Tug of War , Desert Kangaroo Rat , Polar Bear , and Beneath the Surface. Dan's favorite was Hunter . We'd love to know your favorites so don't be shy with the comments.

Something I didn't know about gorillas but learned on one of my zoo trips.

Warning: Don't watch this if you have a weak stomach.

Two Wonderful Years!

We spent most of the day soaking in the sun.

It was 72 degrees in Vegas!

We decided to go with the traditional 2nd year gift - cotton.

So we made each other t-shirts.

(It's my fault that the one Dan made me is printed backwards. I thought they needed to be printed mirror image...opps!)

We decided to make the shirts and then go to the after midnight bowling special...

Overall it was a great day and a great anniversary!

P.S. For a special art announcement go here.

Bountiful Baskets

Last Monday we signed up for a bountiful basket and today we picked it up. We were excited because we didn't have to go to the store and what we were getting would be a surprise.

We got...

17 Brussel sprouts

10 Kiwi

8 Minneola (similar to a tangerine)

6 Bananas

6 oz of Blackberries

5 Tomatoes

5 Apples

2 Squash

2 Broccoli bunches

1 English cucumber

1 Head of lettuce

   and

1Pinapple!

All for the low price of 15 dollars. Exciting exotic things we wouldn't have bought ourselves include the pineapple and the blackberries! Things we wouldn't have bought ourselves because we don't like them include brusselsprouts. Anyone know how to make them not taste like brussel sprouts?

Our trip to Idaho

Besides getting to see some of our favorite people...

We went on a wildlife adventure!

And saw a pretty sunset.

Crabbing

So crabbing was one of our many fun adventures in Oregon and I decided it needed a little extra attention.

Check out this cool video!

I was pretty cautious about touching them, hello they pinch!

I wasn't afraid of the star fish...mostly.

Dan and Clem weren't afraid of either...or the raw chicken.

Rita came down and joined us making the crabbing experience complete.

Trip to Oregon

We went to Oregon last week and had a great time!

Ben picked us up at the airport and we met up with Andrea, Jakey B. and Lizzy at Ikea (Emily was in school).

We helped build a deck, ok it was mostly Dan and Clem.

We went to the coast.

And went crabbing...

The second day of working on the deck I skipped out and went to an art exhibit and lunch with Rita.

It was great hanging out with Clem and Rita!

Our Awesome Wendy

So, for the last 15 years, Wendy has worked with an assortment of friends to paint holiday decorations on the windows of local businesses.  For the last few weeks, Wendy's been working like a champ, going out at 9:00 a.m., painting until 4:00 or 5:00 p.m...

and then working a shift at the Home Depot until 10:00 p.m...

The window paintings that Wendy's done are absolutely incredible (I'll post some pics below).  They're so incredible, in fact, that in the last few days Wendy's received two calls from people that saw her paintings at local establishments, tracked down the management there to ask who the artist was, and then called Wendy to ask if she could paint portraits for them.  She's awesome!
